I have committed my life (again) to Christ today. Under all that I believe in, trust in, the faithfulness of God that I have seen in my life I am trusting Him to lead me towards a fuller, healthier life. I cannot do this on my own. My aim is to lose 15 pounds by June 17, 2011. Current wt is 159. I need to do this to control 3 huge risk factors that have struck me at age 44. Diabetes, blood pressure and high cholesterol.
I am so blessed to be a part of the lives of my 11 year darling daughter Rutha, my 6 year old amazing son Rohun, my dear husband Pramod, my fantastic parents and dear sister Sunita not to mention a large number of friends who are as close as my family, the rest of my family and the amazing communities that I am a part of at church, work and my village/town!
Want to continue to be a part of them for a long time!
Will commit to posting on my journey as often as possible.

Exercise and wt loss
After weeks of falling off track due to physical and mental reasons I will attempt to get back on track. Started an electronic diary to capture what I ate for the last 2 days. Unfortunately the challenge in the evening hours - poor documentation and sheer gluttony.
Today is a snow day for the kids their first and a delayed opening for me. DH is also working from home. Slept for a total of 8 hours!!

Mommy Sabbatical
Still exhausted from the holidays - a mental & physical strain. I mentioned to a friend just now that I need a Leave of Absence - she heartily agreed & said yeah - a mommy sabbatical!!
Its been crazy but I have learned one valuable lesson. Be honest in all your dealings because you never know which one is a test - actually they all are & I am now convinced that hard times are to teach you a lesson & to build your character.
On the 26th of Dec I went to hallmark for their after christmas sales. The lady gave me 50% off on items that were not marked to be 50% off & in addition she gave me 3 stands & charged me for 2. I did notice but stayed quiet. Later as I was grappling with some health issues & in a lot of pain & tired and exhausted from the pain I decided to push my family to go out on a trip. We went to Williamsburg VA. It was too cold & snowy for my parents to really enjoy it. As we left the place to return I discovered that I left some lovely yarn (midway in the project) and a library book in a bag in the hotel room. Husband refused to turn back, hotel said they could not find it. Kept calling back the hotel kept saying they could reach "housekeeping" as they were on the floor. I lost my cool - made sure peace in my family was disrupted. Was completely baffled by my response to the situation and hurt everyone in my family in the process. I watched myself falling :-( Then I asked God why - why did this have to happen - why couldn't He just get me the bag - it was an easy thing for Him to influence. My conscience then prompted me on the Hallmark incidence. Note that 3 days of daily phone calls later the polite southerners from VA could still not locate housekeeping or my bag. I told myself fine - just do the right thing with Hallmark and count on God to be faithful. There was an inner peace - I did expect the bag to show up based on my affirmation of God's faithfulness but the peace made me feel regardless of the bag I needed to do the right thing. So I schlepped the extra stand to Hallmark. The ladies there were very happy with my honesty - took the extra stand back & told me to keep the extra discount I had mistakenly received! Hold on - one more persistent call to the Marriott & a long explanation later I was overjoyed to receive their call telling me that they found my bag!!!
Well its a small incident and I was able to redeem myself somewhat - just grateful for the chance of redemption which may not always be available!
Overall had a great time with my family - lots of bonding, laughter, a good party at our place on Christmas Day, another relaxing get together with 2 of my school friends and their families etc.
Made fruit cake, white chocolate cherry shortbread, sand tarts, sugar and orange butter cookies this year. I also made some yummy chicken biriyani this year.
Need to stay focused on health this coming year 2011!

Christmas 2010
Had a very nice Christmas! Was grateful that Papa was here. Went to the Christmas Eve Service at PAC. Rev. Hannold talked about 4 prophecies of the birth of the Messiah that were made starting ~730 years before the birth of Jesus.
We had yummy biriyani for dinner & lunch on Christmas Day.
Christmas Day was our annual party for our friends around NJ. This year we had the Bhimpures, Vasireddis, Khers, Ahujas, Dharankars, Markales, Natu & Singh families here to celebrate Christmas with us. We all had a blast - catching up with each other. The kids put up an awesome magic show in the end! Catered food from Crown of India & had plenty of cookies, cake & candy. Anita made a great pomegranate & Proseco drink!

Rutha is 11 years old today! She is turning into such a beautiful person - inner & outer - pardon the maternal bias here. She had a blast this past weekend at the Junior's Campout in Middleville NJ. It was a very memorable experience with learning rope climbing, hiking - day & night, campfire, hot chocolate & s'mores, making their own lunches & dinners & building a whole lot of camaraderie & friendships!!
This past year Rutha has done so well in academics. Her NJASK4 scores were fantastic - a perfect 300 on Math, 296 in Language Arts and 267 in Science. Her new interest for excelling is currently social studies - finds it very interesting. Her grades are already maxed out this marking period. She handles her other interests/activities too very well. Has done well in chess - won 2 plaques for 2nd & 3rd place at PCS & SciCore. Performed in 3 items - Lavani, Raag Kedar & murali manohar in her Guru's annual function. Came up with the piece to perform an Asian Fusion dance with Roopa (Bharat Natyam) on the song Believe by Ozomatli from the album "Street Signs". Really showed initiative here - also commended by Archana for her initiative on this. Is progressing very well with violin. Did well in her swim lessons - teacher recommended that she could now do the stroke clinic but we are taking a break for a few weeks over the winter. Is also a member of the school choir. Will be taking part in the Odyssey of the Mind Contest with 6 other participants from her grade.
My prayer for her today is that she continues to grow, reflects her love for her God in all that she does, is the best among the best and brings praise & honor to her Creator as we acknowledge His blessings on her!
