Rainy day

It's April 16th and Princeton feels like a monsoon day in Mahabaleshwar or Poona! Rohun was torn between soccer and chess and of course picked soccer. A chess GM here informs me that Gary Kasporov loved chess and soccer so I ro is ok!! Brought Rutha to the PDS chess tournament.
There are tough choices in life but if one has the faith and remembers to dwell on the Most High there can be peace in the choice you make.
On the topic of peace Rohun was not too pleased that I will not be going with him to India this summer but will be joining them 3 weeks later. He asked me why so I said I wanted some peace and quiet and he goes "why? Why do you need peace, what will you do with it?" what will I do with it! :-)

Rutha my hardworking creative one made us so proud this month - her team won second place in the NJ Odyssey of the Mind finals and will be competing at the worlds next month in Univ of Maryland college park over the memorial day weekend. She brought a lot of creative elements to their team work the simple songs like elmo's world and egypt Egypt and Egypt is the name-o were such hits. We had other team members who were at the regionals saying the songs stuck in their heads for weeks. Rutha also did a lot of heads down hands on work - tirelessly working while many others played around with each other or their gadgets.
I Learnt a lot about people and attitudes too. Shocked to see how some parents can be totally oblivious to their child's behavior.

Had a couple of good accomplishments of my own at work. Co-led a team that presented a seminar to the us regulatory agency. The rocky times at work continue just when we thought we were done with layoffs and are ready to get set and move on there is talk of "simplification" and reducing fixed costs aka jobs. Effects of a global economy seem unfairly punishing of the hard working American employee.

Pramod in his characteristically scholarly way is gearing up for the cranbury board of education election. He poured over the budget, the finances of the neighboring school districts, has researched the per child spending in schools in NJ and across the USA, read white papers on education. I think he will definitely make a difference and am praying that he is elected. This town is fairly non-diverse.

I am starting a KAL! Excited but nervous.
